Beehive Dyslexia provides full diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children from 8 years old and for adults of any age.
An assessment may be helpful when a child, young person or adult is experiencing persistent difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, memory, processing, organisation or other aspects of learning.
For children, the assessment considers their individual strengths and areas of difficulty and provides a clear picture of how these may be affecting their learning.
Children aged 8–16 and adults aged 17+ can book a full dyslexia assessment with Beehive Dyslexia.

A full dyslexia assessment costs £395 for children and adults

A full dyslexia assessment looks at a range of areas to build a clear picture of an individual's strengths and areas of difficulty. This may include:
Cognitive processing and reasoning
Memory and processing speed
Phonological awareness and processing
Reading and reading comprehension
Spelling
Writing and written expression
Underlying skills that support learning
The assessment also considers relevant background and developmental information. The findings are brought together to provide a clear diagnostic outcome, explain the impact on learning, and provide individualised recommendations for support.

Dyslexia assessments are arranged at a suitable professional venue in a convenient location for you. Once your assessment appointment has been booked, Karen will source an appropriate room based on your location and the practical requirements of the assessment.
The assessment room will be quiet, private and comfortable, with suitable facilities and a suitable space for completing the assessment. Wherever possible, venues are chosen with convenient parking nearby and good accessibility.
As assessments are held at different professional venues across Lancashire, the exact location and full venue details will be confirmed with you in advance of your appointment.
This approach allows Beehive Dyslexia to offer assessment appointments in convenient locations across Lancashire, rather than being tied to a single fixed clinic.

No. A screening identifies indicators that may suggest dyslexia and can help highlight whether further assessment may be appropriate. It is not designed to provide a diagnostic outcome. A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment is more comprehensive and considers a range of evidence before reaching a diagnostic outcome. Beehive Dyslexia offers both school-based screening and full diagnostic assessment.

Following the assessment, the findings are carefully considered and brought together in a comprehensive written report. The report explains the assessment findings and diagnostic outcome, the impact on learning, and provides practical recommendations for support.
-
Yes. A full diagnostic dyslexia assessment may be used as supporting evidence for an application for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) where the assessment and report meet the relevant requirements.
Beehive Dyslexia uses the current SASC 2025 diagnostic assessment report format and guidance for diagnostic assessments that may be used as evidence for DSA. Karen holds a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), and reports can be used as evidence for DSA applications where the relevant requirements are met.
DSA applications are assessed by Student Finance England, and having a dyslexia diagnosis does not automatically mean that DSA funding will be awarded.
